Handling & Installation

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH POINTS BELOW VOIDS WARRANTY

  1. At delivery, inspect your tank immediately for defects or shipping damage. Any discrepancies, or product problems, should be noted on the both the driver's "bill of lading" and "packing list".
  2. When unloading the tank, avoid contact with sharp objects such as lift forks or loader buckets that can cause damage, including tank wall puncture if the proper precautions are not observed. Never allow tanks to be rolled over on the fittings. Large bulk storage tanks should be carefully unloaded with the use of a crane or another suitable lifting device. Insure that the unloading area is flat and free of large rocks, sharp objects or other objects that could damage the tank. Avoid unloading the tanks in high winds. Always support or brace tanks that are placed on the side to prevent rolling.
  3. Support bottom of tank firmly and completely. Concrete pads provide the best foundation. However, when seismic and wind factors are not being considered, tanks with a load bearing of less than 800 pounds per square foot require a firm, even, compacted bed of sand, pea gravel, or fine soil that won't wash away. Tanks with a base load bearing 800 pounds per square foot, or greater, require a reinforced concrete base. Steel support stands concentrate the loaded tank weight onto the stand leg pads. It is recommended that stands are mounted on a concrete base. Bolting of stands is necessary to prevent movement due to agitation, wind, seismic loads and accidental contact.
  4. Install tanks in a area that is accessible for ease of maintenance.
  5. Test by filling tank with water prior to use, to prevent material loss through unsecured fittings, shipping damage, or manufacturing defects. Tanks should be tested for a minimum 4 hours.
  6. Above gound tanks are not designed to handle the pressure of surrounding earth and should not be buried.
  7. All vertical bulk storage tanks are designed to handle the pressure of surrounding earth and should not be buried.
  8. Use only CWT WALL FITTINGS through all openings cut in tank/spring box. All holes to be cut with proper size hole saw to accommodate wall fittings. DO NOT FORCE FITTINGS THROUGH OPENINGS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER TIGHTEN POLY FITTINGS IF OVER TIGHTENED, THESE FITTINGS CAN BE DAMAGED AND LEAK.
  9. Support all pipes entering and exiting tank/spring box.
  10. Do not allow electric immersion pump or heater to touch the tank wall.
  11. Never use sharp tools around polyethylene tanks/spring box.
  12. Do not subject tank to harsh treatment in extremely cold temperatures.
